Its restful hills & gullies are now sheltered with wild flowers and pine forests, but one hundred years back this small peninsula between the Aegean and the Dardanelles Sea was the site of an extended, strident and bloody clash that’s seared into the reminiscence of several countries.
Now sheltered as a Turkish National Park, Gallipoli is an unbelievably renowned destination for Turks and outsiders alike, who come to pay honor at the monuments and rejoice the gallantry, stoicism and companionship of the brave soldiers who battled and demised here.
Bordered by turquoise waters and sheltered in a nicely-maintained system of roads and walking routes, this historically affluent land in Northwest Turkey is home to forty Allied war graveyards, at least twenty Turkish graveyards, and a great deal of memorials.
